“Ballet Brilliance” Gala by American Ballet Theatre launches the 2024 summer Season

American Ballet Theatre (ABT) hosts its 2024 Spring Gala: Ballet Brilliance on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 6:30 P.M. The venue for this event is the prestigious Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. ABT promises an evening of exquisite performances by its talented dancers, featuring a curated selection of excerpts from the upcoming 2024 Summer season.

The gala will offer a sneak peek at highlights from ABT’s summer repertoire, including a special preview of Wayne McGregor’s “Woolf Works” ahead of its New York Premiere. Audiences can expect to be transported by iconic pas de deux from renowned ballets such as “Swan Lake” and “Romeo and Juliet,” as well as excerpts from contemporary works like “Onegin” and “Like Water for Chocolate.”

Distinguished dancers scheduled to perform include Joo Won Ahn, Aran Bell, Isabella Boylston, and Gillian Murphy, among others, ensuring an evening of grace and artistry.

Following the performance, gala guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a delightful dinner and dance the night away.

This year, the gala will pay tribute to Academy Award-winning filmmaker Chai Vasarhelyi for her significant contributions to the arts and her advocacy for classical ballet.

The gala is made possible thanks to the dedication of Honorary Chairs Susan Fales-Hill, Elizabeth Segerstrom, and Blaine Trump, as well as Gala Chairs and Junior Chairs who work tirelessly to ensure its success.

Summer Season

ABT’s 2024 Summer Season, will run from June 18 to July 20 at the Metropolitan Opera House.

Among the highlights of the season is the highly anticipated New York Premiere of Wayne McGregor’s Woolf Works on June 25th. This innovative ballet, inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novels, promises to immerse audiences in a world of emotion and modern realism. With its acclaimed music by Max Richter, Woolf Works has earned prestigious awards and critical acclaim, making it a must-see event.

Another highlight of ABT’s summer lineup is John Cranko’s Onegin, starting on June 18th. Set to Tchaikovsky’s music, this timeless ballet brings Alexander Pushkin’s classic verse-novel to life with performances by Devon Teuscher and Daniel Camargo.

Additionally, audiences can look forward to classic favorites like Swan Lake and Romeo and Juliet, showcasing the talent of ABT’s dancers. These productions, filled with romance and drama, are sure to captivate audiences.
