Georgia O’Keeffe: Visions of Hawaii, at the NYBG

The New York Botanical Gardens pays homage to Georgia O’Keeffe’s Hawaiian inspired art in a special exhibition through October 28, 2018.

The Enid A. Haupt Conservatory showcases the beauty and richness of Hawaii’s flora, featuring frangipani, bougainvillea, heliconia, hibiscus, bird-of-paradise, ginger, and many more tropical plants that inspired O’Keeffe.

15 of O’Keeffe’s works that were created during and after her visit to Hawaii in 1939 are on view in the LuEsther T. Mertz Library Art Gallery.

The Britton Gallery features an exhibit tracing the history of Hawaii flora and a short movie based on O’Keeffe’s letters to her husband, photographer Alfred Stieglitz.

Art installations by Hawaii artist Mark Chai enhance the visual experience.
