Affordable Art Fair NYC: The 35th Edition!

The Affordable Art Fair New York City was back, from March 20th to 24th, 2024, at the Metropolitan Pavilion for its 35th edition. With over 70 galleries bringing thousands of artworks to Chelsea, this was an event not to be missed. Here are some highlights from this year’s fair:

Private View: Wednesday, March 20, 6-9pm

A Private View on Wednesday, March 20th from 6-9pm. With over 75 galleries showcasing their finest pieces, attendees wenjoyed a complimentary drink, courtesy of partners at New Belgium.

In Memoriam: Someone I Loved by Emily B. Yang and Joy Tien

From Wednesday, March 20th to Sunday, March 24th, visitors witnessed a unique take on the Young Talent Exhibition. Curated by Artbean Coffee, this special installation featured works by Emily B. Yang and Joy Tien, exploring themes of love, grief, and the essence of life and the afterlife.

Order & Chaos Presented by Arts Gowanus

The intricacies of order and chaos with featured artists Liza Domingues and Hannah Robinett. Visitors also participated in a special installation by Robinett, symbolizing the interplay between perfection and disorder. A reminder that even in brokenness, beauty can be found.

Collective Bloom for The Art Therapy Project

A collective ‘bloom’ symbolizing diverse visions of hope for the future. Visitors contributed their unique perspective to a wall mural curated by The Art Therapy Project, and be a part of this communal expression.

Materials for the Arts Donation for Admission

On Thursday, March 21st from 6-8pm, fair goers donated new or gently used art supplies in partnership with Materials for the Arts and received complimentary entry. The contributions will support arts education in New York public schools.

Art After Dark

Art After Dark took place on Friday,March 22nd from 6-9pm. visitors enjoyed Curious Elixirs’ craft cocktails and delectable edible artworks by Funny Face Bakery. An evening of art, creativity, and culinary delights!

The Artist Is In

Visitors connect directly with the artists on Saturday, March 23rd as participating exhibitors offered the opportunity to engage with the creators behind the showcased artworks.

Stroller Hours

Families were invited to Stroller Hours on Sunday, March 24th, and enjoyed a hassle-free browsing experience with their little ones, complete with art activities and healthy snacks provided by Fresh Bellies.

Live Painting by Jules Wittock

Belgian artist Jules Wittock created his new work ‘Play’ onsite at the Activation Stand on Saturday, March 23rd and Sunday, March 24th.

With fairs in 10 cities and three new fairs launching in 2024, they continue to provide a platform for both established artists and rising stars, welcoming art enthusiasts from around the globe to discover affordable artworks.
