Celebrating its 70th anniversary, The Winter Show has enchanted art enthusiasts and collectors alike with a captivating array of programming and special events. Running from January 19 to 28, 2024, at the iconic Park Avenue Armory, the fair brought together over 70 exhibitors showcasing fine and decorative arts from around the world.
This year’s edition offered a unique blend of lectures, panel discussions, special exhibitions, and collaborative events organized in partnership with esteemed institutions and experts in the realms of art, antiques, and design. The diverse programming was designed to deepen visitors’ knowledge, offering a chance to engage with current trends and explore captivating topics presented by leaders in the field.
As part of its commitment to community impact, The Winter Show serves as an annual benefit for East Side House Settlement, a vital organization providing critical services and resources to over 14,000 residents of the Bronx and northern Manhattan.
Highlighting the fair’s collaborative spirit and educational focus, panel discussions and talks featured experts in art, antiques, and design, as well as leaders from renowned museums and institutions.
In honor of the 70th anniversary, The Winter Show proudly presented the special exhibition “Focus: Americana.” Curated by Alexandra Kirtley, the Montgomery-Garvan Curator of American Decorative Arts at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, this exhibition showcased exceptional objects that highlighted Americana design history, a central theme since the show’s inception.
The Winter Show also featured the intriguing photo essay exhibition, “Urban Life in the South Bronx” by Simon Cherry, celebrating the individuals who brought vitality and inspiration to the mission of East Side House Settlement.
The Winter Show also offered several ticketed events benefiting East Side House, including the Opening Night Party on January 18, Young Collectors Night on January 25, and Connoisseurs Night on January 26. These events attracted collectors, philanthropists, and art and design aficionados, providing unique opportunities to explore the offerings of the exhibitors.
