Art on Paper in NYC, Fall 2023

From September 7th to 10th, the much-anticipated Art on Paper returned to Pier 36 in NYC. Aligned with the prestigious Armory Arts Week, this 9th edition showcased a curated selection from over 100 top galleries. The show’s focus was the beauty and innovation of paper-based art.

The fair this year delivered more than just visual treats. and included a unique amalgamation of special projects, hands-on sessions, and inspiring installations.

Some Art on Paper Fair Highlights

BOOKSMART FAIR In collaboration with the Center for Book Arts (CBA), Art on Paper introduced a distinct artists’ book fair. Here, eight renowned institutions, including Women’s Studio Workshop and MoMA Library Council, displayed a range of artists’ books, each exploring the form uniquely.

The Power of Art by Amplifier: This installation highlighted the transformative power of art, particularly in trying times, emphasizing its role as a catalyst for change and voice for the marginalized.

Live Printing Workshop by Shoestring Press: Show visitors dived into the printmaking process with artists like Mike Perry and Layla Nami, and even tried their hand at techniques like linocut and silkscreen printing.

FREE FILM: NYC: An interactive initiative between WORTHLESSSTUDIOS and the Lower Eastside Girls Club, inviting photographers to capture their unique interpretations of set themes.

Combat Paper by Drew Francis Cameron: A transformative journey of military uniforms being crafted into handmade paper by the former U.S. Army sergeant.

… and many more immersive installations and exhibits.
