Ice Theatre of New York® (ITNY) celebrated its 2024 Home Season Performances, presenting a diverse and captivating lineup of ice dance spectacles. Performances took place on May 3 at 7 pm, May 4 and May 6 at Sky Rink, Chelsea Piers and featured feature ITNY’s Professional Ensemble Members and guest artists.
The show began with“In Flight Entertainment,” an exploration of graceful circles in ice and air dancing, performed by ITNY’s Sarah France & Libby McGrosky.
Other dance, “Neurocircle,” choreographed and performed by ITNY’s Sarah France, delves into neural pathways and human connection, set to “Between Worlds” by Anna Phoebe and Jake Downs.
Audiences were thrilled by “Take Five,” performed by Danil Berdnikov, a playful piece set to music by the David Brubeck Quartet.
The performances also included “Butterfly Phase” by Benoit Richaud, “Rhythm Dance” by Oona & Gage Brown, and “Dry Your Tears, Afrika” by Theron “TJ” James.
The Benefit Gala and Performance on May 6 at 6:30 pm featured ITNY Ensemble and Guest Artist Ilia Malinin, “Quad God” 2024 World Champion. The gala that followed honored Olympic ice dancing pairs Meryl Davis and Charlie White, Tanith Belbin White and Ben Agosto.
Performers Bios:
- Sarah France: Joined ITNY in 2018, she’s a six-time US Open Professional Figure Skating Championships competitor and a US Figure Skating triple gold medalist.
- Danil Berdnikov: With ITNY for three seasons, he’s performed internationally and earned a US National Junior Silver Medal.
- Libby McGrosky: Joined ITNY in 2023, they previously skated for the Hayden Synchronized Skating Teams and represented the USA internationally.
- Oona & Gage Brown: Crowned 2022 World Junior Ice Dance Champions, they transitioned to the senior level and competed for Team USA.
- Theron “TJ” James: A former national-level skater, he’s been a principal soloist for major professional companies and appeared on TV shows like Dancing on Ice.
- Ilia Malinin: The “Quad God” 2024 World Champion, he’s known for completing 6 quadruple jumps in his free program, including the quadruple axel.
- Meryl Davis and Charlie White: Artistic Olympians and US National Champions, they’re role models in the skating world.
- Tanith Belbin White and Ben Agosto: Former Olympic ice dancing pairs, they’ve made significant contributions to the sport.
