Whistler’s annual culinary event Cornucopia, presented by BlueShore Financial attracts more than 15,000 attendees and hundreds of industry members and media. Returning for its 21st year in 2017, the 11-day showcase takes place from November 9 – 19 and will offer food and drink tastings, intimate wine dinners, educational and entertaining luncheons, craft beer celebrations, spirited parties and over 35 seminars. Tickets are now on sale.
Each signature tasting event has a different focus – wine, international flavors, spirits, beer, the best of British Columbia. Passionate hosts operate tasting stations, while music and DJs create a vibrant atmosphere. Event favorites include Crush Grand Tasting, Cellar Door, House Party: Best of BC, Poured, With a Twist and Night Market: Taste the World.
There are over 30 drink seminars to choose from including the Bubble-icious, They’ve Got Chemistry-Pairing Chocolate with Cocktails, Bottle and the Beast: Charcuterie & Wine Pairing with Oyama, Slice Advice: Pizza Pizzazz or Mix It Up & Chow It Down: Pairing Food and Cocktails.
CULINARY STAGE AND CHEF TABLE LUNCHEONS
Offering the opportunity to learn with the best, the culinary stage series is a staple on the Cornucopia and features presentations by top chefs, mixologists and industry representatives. With 2017 marking Canada’s 150th anniversary, this year’s culinary stage series is all about local – from coast to coast. Highlight presenters include:
- Chef Eric Pateman – Edible Canada, presents Canada’s 150th – A Cultural Culinary Journey
- Sommelier Jason Yamasaki – Joey Restaurant Group, presents A Cut Above: High Altitude Argentinean Wine for Meat Lovers
- Chef Jeff Van Geest – Miradoro Restaurant, presents Tinhorn Creek & Miradoro Restaurant
The chef’s table luncheons are intimate dining experiences held in some of Whistler’s most beautiful homes. Attendees enjoy a carefully prepared multi-course menu while surrounded by acclaimed chefs and winery principals. The 2017 host chefs include:

Cornucopia brings together several restaurant + bar events shining the spotlight on local chefs, vintners, brewers and distillers. To name a few for 2017 – the Peak to Peak to Peak four-course dinner is a Four Seasons Chefs Collaborative with SideCut Executive Chef Eren Guryel and his Vail and Jackson Hole counterparts; the Fairmont Chateau Whistler hosts ELLEvate TogetHER, a collaborative culinary dinner featuring top female chefs Nicole Gomes – recent Top Chef Canada All-star winner, Melissa Craig – executive chef at Bearfoot Bistro, and Fairmont’s own executive chef Isabel Chung; the annual Bearfoot Bistro World Oyster Invitational & Bloody Caesar Battle brings in the best oyster shuckers, bartenders and mixologists from around the globe; and select restaurants and their winery partners offer winery dinners with expertly crafted multi-course menus.
NOURISH: HEALTH + WELLNESS SERIES
Healthy living is a large part of living in Whistler, and the Nourish series offers a selection of healthy topics and seminars that are sure to inspire. Caveman Grocer co-founder, Kara McMaster will be hosting Mastering the Basics, providing building blocks to creating nourishing recipes. Fuel up for the weekend at the Farmer’s Breakfast, and rid yourself of sugary snacks at Energy in Motion – simple wholesome recipes for the quick pick me up. Discover the nutritional benefits of plant-based eating at Meatless Mondays and Plant Based Deliciousness. Aura Restaurant at Nita Lake Lodge will host Dining With Balance and nutritionist and raw food chef, Merina Koly returns to serve up living foods at Live Bodies Need Living Foods.
